Audio that stays clear
- AI noise suppression
- Machine-learning denoiser that strips keyboard, fan and room noise from your voice.
- Push-to-talk
- Hold-to-talk or a global hotkey, so background noise never reaches the room.
- Voice Focus
- Voice activation that opens your mic the moment you speak — nothing when you do not.
- Spatial audio
- Voices are placed around you, so a busy room stays readable instead of becoming a wall.
- Voice Clarity
- Per-speaker EQ that keeps each person clear even when several talk at once.
- Audio profiles
- Voice, Balanced and Music presets tune loudness and uplink for what you are doing.
- Live device switching
- Change mic and speakers mid-call without dropping out.
- Denoiser strength
- Three levels of noise reduction so you control the CPU cost on older devices.
In practice
Coworking that never closes
A coworking voice Space stays open all day. People drop in, share a screen to pair on a bug, then go back to reading #feedback — still connected, still one click from the room.
Voice rooms inside your Nexus
Voice Spaces put real-time conversation inside the Nexus instead of next to it. A room is always there — drop in to talk, leave when you are done — which is a different shape from scheduling a call. For a distributed team, a study group or a maker community, that persistent room is often what turns a group of people into a group that works together.
Participant controls are built in: joining and leaving is visible to the room, and the people running the community can manage who talks when. The room is part of the Nexus, so its membership and permissions come from the community’s structure, not from a separate call app’s contact list. The controls and moderation page explains how roles work across voice and text alike.
Video and screen sharing
Video and screen sharing live in the same voice Space, so a conversation can escalate from "talk me through it" to "watch my screen" without changing rooms or tools. Walking someone through a bug, reviewing a design or teaching a concept is one continuous room instead of three hopscotched apps.
Everything runs in the browser over HTTPS — the browser asks for camera or microphone permission the first time you join, and that is the whole install story. No desktop client, no separate account, no version drift between the chat and the call.
A call that does not trap you
A floating call bar keeps the conversation visible while you keep using the community. You are not locked into a full-screen call: the call follows you around the app, so you can check a message, grab a link or pull a file mid-call without dropping out of the conversation.
That one detail changes how teams actually use voice. When joining a call is cheap and leaving it is easy, people use it for the small moments — the quick check-in, the "can you look at this" — instead of reserving voice for meetings, which is where most real collaboration happens anyway.
The audio quality suite
Voice on Ballastra is engineered to sound like a room, not a phone call. An AI noise suppressor strips keyboard, fan and room noise from your voice, a Voice Focus option opens the mic the moment you speak and closes it when you do not, and spatial audio places each speaker around you so a busy room stays readable.
Beyond the defaults there is per-speaker Voice Clarity EQ, audio profiles (Voice, Balanced and Music) that retune loudness and uplink for what you are doing, three denoiser strengths so you control the CPU cost on older hardware, and live device switching so you can change mic and speakers mid-call without dropping out. Push-to-talk is there too — hold-to-talk or a global hotkey — for anyone who would rather their environment never reach the room.
HD voice and 1080p screen sharing
Higher-quality voice and screen sharing are part of the paid plan. Aether Pro members get HD voice and 1080p screen sharing, and a Beacon-boosted Nexus opens 1080p sharing to every member of that community — a way for a Nexus to give all its members the better experience, not just the ones who paid.
Quality is not a gimmick here: when a maker walks someone through a build, or a study group goes through a diagram, the difference between "fine" and "actually clear" is the difference between collaborating and re-explaining.
Common questions
No. Voice and video Spaces run in the browser. Your browser will ask for microphone or camera permission the first time you join one.
Yes. Screen sharing is available inside a voice Space, so walking someone through a design or a bug does not need a separate call.
Browsers only grant microphone and camera access on a secure connection, so voice needs the site loaded over HTTPS and the permission prompt accepted.
Yes. Voice rooms include an AI noise suppressor that removes keyboard, fan and room noise, with three strength levels you can tune for your hardware. A Voice Focus option opens the mic only when you speak.
Yes. Use hold-to-talk or bind a global hotkey, so background noise from your side never reaches the room.
Yes. Switch input and output devices live without dropping the call, and pick an audio profile (Voice, Balanced or Music) for what you are doing.
Voice Clarity applies per-speaker EQ so each person stays distinct even when several talk at once, and spatial audio places voices around you in a busy room. HD voice is an Aether Pro perk.
